Going in, there’s a high expectation about the new flagship Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 3 headphones which offer superior sound quality and equally impressive active noise cancellation.

And those expectations are not only met – they are actually exceeded.

These new Sennheiser earphones are at the premium end of the market and are priced that way at $399.

And if you value sound quality, if you seek high fidelity audio and want impressive active noise cancellation – then the Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 3 earphones are in your wheelhouse.

The earphones had a slight redesign and have a more curved and less angular look.

They are also a good size – large enough for a comfortable fit and not too small which means you don’t have jam them deep into your ears so they don’t fall out.

So, big ticks for comfort and a secure fit.

They also have an IPX4 water and sweat resistant rating so they’re also ideal to wear to the gym or on a run.

Sound-wise, they also deliver in spades thanks to the 7mm dynamic audio drivers powered by the Sennheiser TrueResponse Transducer.

The result is a crisp and true sound that has both scale and detail. And the bass is not too heavy handed and complements the sound rather than taking over to plug weaknesses in the sound.

Bottom line: there are no weaknesses in the sound.

The Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 3 earphones have aptX Adaptive codec support which means it can handle high resolution audio files up to 24bit/96kHz audio.

And the superb sound is protected with the outstanding active and adaptive noise cancellation.

This lets listeners remove all obstacles to their music.

The earphones do a great job listening out for and blocking the ambient sound so it doesn’t interfere with your listening experience.

The quality of noise cancellation is among the best we’ve heard – at this price point we expected nothing less.

And it can adapt to always suit your surroundings rather than a one-size-fits-all approach with the same level of noise suppression.

It only works as hard as it needs to ensure the silence is always golden.

And if you’re in a noisier environment – it works harder to maintain the level of noise cancellation.

Of course there’s also a handy Transparency Mode for those times when you do need to hear your surroundings.

Call quality was also impressive through the Sennheiser earphones thanks to the three microphones on each earbud, but we felt the background noise and wind suppression could have been better.

The Sennheiser Smart Control companion app offers the ability to set your own gesture controls for each earbud.

You can also have a go a setting your own equaliser and saving it within the app and you can opt for a simple Bass Boost and a setting for podcasts which enhances speech clarity.

SennheiserMomentum3Review6

The app lets you create up to 20 Sound Zones – for work, the gym, home and other places – so when the app detects you in these areas it applies the desired settings to suit those locations.

Battery life is up to seven hours from the earphones alone and up to 28 hours with a fully charged case.

The case can also be charged wirelessly if you have a Qi charging mat handy – otherwise you can charge it via the USB-C port.

The Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 3 earphones are available now and priced at $399.

VERDICT

The new Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 3 earphones have carried the tradition and provide stunning audio quality, excellent active noise cancellation and holds its own against the other flagship products on the market.
